Suitable for children aged 4 yrs. to 8 yrs.
Construction play is educational, fun, and also time consuming. We won't get into a long dissertation on how this type of play strengthens your child's hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills as well as their understanding of geometry and interest in entrepreneurship.
With this type of play, your child also gets real hands-on experience with problem-solving as they figure out how to design the construction so it doesn't suddenly collapse. Your child's construction play with all sorts of building materials stimulates their imagination. And it's just such a confidence boost to construct a tall, tall tower or build the world's longest marble run, or to create an amazing row of dominoes and film it when it topples.
This activity supports essential skills which help support your child's well-being and ability to learn:

Do you know Polydron?
The ToyAcademy team have a permanent play date with the English toy company Polydron. The first toys Polydron produced weresturdy plastic pieces that can be connected in countless ways. The classic pieces can still be found, and they delight children with developmental and imaginative play in many homes, schools, and kindergartens.
Today, there are many different Polydron variants. Maybe you've heard of the magnetic building blocks Polydron MAG, which also come as baby toys or with mirrors. You can also buy giant XL Polydron sets, which you can use to build large creations - even a whole little playhouse. Polydron pieces can be enjoyed outside, and they last for like a century. A common feature of all the Polydron variants is that they're really durable toys that can be passed down to generations of curious children who can play and learn.
