Building and construction play is educational, fun, and also time consuming. We won't get into a long-winded essay about how this type of play develops your child's creativity, hand-eye coordination, and fine motor skills as well as interest in entrepreneurship and understanding of geometry.
With this type of play, your child also gets real hands-on experience with problem-solving when they need to figure out how to assemble the construction so it doesn't collapse. Your child's construction play with all sorts of blocks, pieces, and sticks makes it fun for them to concentrate. Also, it's so satisfying to build the longest marble run ever or construct a skyscraper higher than yourself, or to make an amazing row of dominoes and film it as it topples.

Do you know Polydron?
The ToyAcademy team have a long-standing play date with the English toy company Polydron. Polydron first came on the market withsturdy plastic pieces that can be put together in endless ways. Original Polydron pieces are still on the market, and they delight children with developmental and imaginative play in many families, schools, and kindergartens.
Nowadays, there are lots of other types of Polydron. Polydron MAG are magnetic building pieces, which are also available with mirrors and in models suitable for young children under 3. You can also choose huge XL Polydron sets, which are ideal for building big structures - even a real playhouse. The pieces can be played with outdoors, and they last for years and years of play. A common feature of all our Polydron sets is that they're quite durable toys that can be passed down to generations of curious children who can play and learn.
