A monster friend invites acceptance into your child's life. Monsters are different and are often portrayed as scary in stories and fairy tales. We often respond with suspicion or fear when something is outside the norm.
Playing with monsters expands your child’s understanding of what a friend can look like. Also, monster friends are popular with children of all genders, which inspires kids to play together across their different interests, like princesses, swords, or cars. And with monsters, your child's imagination can run wild - because it's completely up to your child to decide what their monster looks like and whether it has eyes on its knees, antennas, five arms, or three ears. Monsters don’t have to look "perfect" (in a normative sense), and your child will feel proud to show you their new monster friend, who, fortunately, is anything but normal.
We carry playdough of several different colours and types and with different firmness levels. Firmer playdough stimulates your child’s proprioception because it offers more resistance when played with. Among other things, firm playdough is perfect for making stop motion movies, because it holds its shape better.
It’s a quiet activity that can help your child be still for just six more minutes - or help them cope with long train or car rides without restlessly moving around in their seat. In particular, for children with a lot of motor restlessness, playing with something that activates their hands, proprioception, imagination, and fine motor skills while sitting still can bring a sense of calm.
Oil-based playdough stays soft for years. You can soften water-based playdough by mixing in a bit of water.
Naturally, all the different types of playdough, sensory slime, and modelling clay you'll find at ToyAcademy are CE-marked and approved in accordance with current toy safety regulations - just like all our other products.
